If you’re an avid golfer, or if you simply like living the active life, then you’ll feel right at home in Raleigh. The city today has a variety of golf communities featuring amenities that go beyond the golf course. These Raleigh golf communities include 12 Oaks, Hasentree, Heritage Wake Forest, Governors Club, Prestonwood and Wakefield Plantation.
The Governors Club and Prestonwood are located minutes away from the central business districts of Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh. Both private golf communities, they contain some of Wake County real estate region’s most sought-after homes. Governors Club features a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed course with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Prestonwood’s crowning jewel is 54 holes of championship golf designed by Tom Jackson that is a regular stop in the Senior PGA Tour.
Heritage Wake Forest and Wakefield Plantation also feature championship-caliber courses and homes of distinction. The former has an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by Bob Moore, with a ranking of 4.5 stars from North Carolina Magazine. The latter’s TPC Wakefield Plantation is a par 71, 18-hole course designed by Hale Irwin that features five different sets of tees.
Hasentree’s course is also very distinctive. It has given Hasentree the distinction of being the only residential community that has a Tom Fazio-designed course. Apart from this, these master-planned residential spaces also feature clubhouses, pro shops, tennis courts, swimming pools, and an abundance of parks and nature trails.
